In June, I conducted a five-day workshop near Hudson, NY at
It was one of the most memorable workshops. The magic performed by our excellent hosts, Kim and Mark LaPolla combined with an amazing group of artists created an unforgettable week.
Paulo and the gals
I was so proud of these painters for persevering through rain or shine.
They took on both still life and landscape in this week long intensive.
When the sun came out we packed our gear and spent the day at Olana, home of Frederic Edwin Church.
It may have been the most magical day that week...
My lucky painting hat :)
We painted on the grounds in the morning.
Joanne bravely catching a Cicada
Cicadas were making a haunting noise this year.
For lunch, Mark spread out a picnic on the lawn and we feasted.
After that, we took a guided tour of the house and grounds. So inspired by the beautiful vision of Mr. Church, some of us painted in the afternoon...
and some enjoyed the scenery and took photos of the magnificent views.
At the beginning and end of each day we were all rewarded with Kim's and Mark's fantastic meals, fine wines and a special camaraderie around the table.
Some evenings no one wanted to leave the table, eventually the waitstaff had to relocate us so they could set the morning table.
Gang, let's do this again!!!
